MC Mary Kom, the 35-year-old mother of 3 beautiful children won her 6th Gold at the World Boxing Championships on Saturday night in New Delhi. ‘Magnificent Mary’ easily beat Ukraine’s Hanna Okhota 5-0 to win the top spot in the 48kg category. She is the first woman boxer to win 6 World Championship gold medals.

Mary has an Olympic Bronze medal from the 2016 Rio games. She has 6 World Championship golds and one silver medal now which make her the most successful female boxer in the history of the sport.

With her name etched in the record books, everyone should celebrate Mary’s success as their own. Her struggles are just like ours. Most experts wrote her off after she had children but the gritty boxer fought and trained her way back to the top of the world.
Mary is far from done. She feels that she can still fight for a few more years, and is keen on boxing once again at the Olympics. We hope to see her strike gold in Tokyo in 2022!
