News: The European Space Agency (ESA) has launched a new space telescope to explore exoplanets and understand if they could host life.

The new space telescope called CHEOPS or the Characterising Exoplanets Satellite will observe exoplanets as they pass in front of their host stars, watching the change in starlight to figure out the planet’s size and density. Using the density measurement they will be able t understand if these bodies are rocky or gaseous and if the planet has an atmosphere. It will also search for unique characteristics including moons, rings and oceans. Though none of these guarantees that life could exist on these planets, it just increases the chances.
