Women’s Singles: 6-time US Open Champion, Serena Williams is once again the favourite to win the last Grand Slam of the year. Serena who turns 37 soon, missed last year’s tournament due to injury. She is seeded 17th in the list which is headed by Simona Halep. Halep is the top seed after she won the French Open earlier this year and will also be a strong contender for the title. Local favourite & Defending Champion Sloane Stephens along with Former World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki are also the big names in the seeding list.

In the Men’s Singles category, Rafael Nadal is the Number 1 seed ahead of 5-time US Open Champion Roger Federer. The 3rd seed is awarded to 2009 champion Juan Martin del Potro the rising star of Men’s tennis Alexander Zverev is seeded 4th.
Rafa, the winner of 17 Grand Slam titles, is the top seed but there is no clear favourite in the men’s draw. The ‘BIG THREE’ of the men’s tennis – Nadal, Federer & Djokovic are all in contention to win at Flushing Meadows. Interestingly, the three have a total of 50 Grand Slam Singles Titles in between them. While Nadal recently won the Roger’s Cup in Toronto, Federer & Djokovic are also in fine form and it’s tough to pick a favourite. One can never rule out the ‘DJOKER’. The Serbian Superstar Novak Djokovic won the Wimbledon this year and also captured the ATP 10000 title in Cincinnati ahead of the final Grand Slam of the year.
The possibility of a Federer vs Nadal final is alive as the top 2 seeds will be looking to avoid any hiccups till the last round. Interestingly, in the last 5 meetings between the two legends, Federer has prevailed on every occasion since 2014.
